In the process of doing mine, should the consultant call to the farm or is it all done remotely?

Just did mine a few days ago. You don't need the consultant to come out. He asked me about

    - Size of farm
    - Stock numbers & when housed
    - Slurry (time of year & how it's spread)
    - Fertiliser spread (they like more urea spread than CAN)
    - Feed purchased

Nothing to it really. only takes 5 minutes

You have to do a separate one if you're in the BDGP scheme. I think it has to be done before (the end of?) October.

Hope this does not contravene the 'zombie' protocols!! :)

Need to get the carbon navigator completed and was wondering if anyone could recommend an advisor in the Clare area (close to Ennis) please?

I'm not with Teagasc and haven't used an advisor before for anything.

Would like to think this could be done over the phone as don't want to take time off work for it but if that's what has to happen then so be it.

Go to your local Teagasc office. They'll help you out.

Carrucan O'Connor in north Clare. Private consultant. They will sort over phone. I didn't use them but a mate did. Got on grand.

I think there is a list of approved consultants on the Depts website

I was told it can be done in either the advisor's office or on farms

My girlfriend has done a heap of them, she made up a questionnaire and posted it out to the farmers, 5 minutes would fill it up if you had your mart dockets to hand and just post it back then. No need to meet the advisor at all really.

    Did mine only yesterday.
The local COOP sent out a summary of the fertiliser and feed purchased one single sheet. It was for the Nitrates Directive, I think. This very useful for this data info.
    Done now anyway.

Hope this extension will not delay 2016 BDGP payments.

Teagasc got selfish, offering their services to everyone, in most cases trying to poach new clients.

When they got too many farmers contacting them, they weren't able to cope.

They then ran to their pals in the Dept for an extension and surprise, surprise got one.
