Taylormade R15 - 14 degree loft

Hi, I've found a Taylormade R15 online, with a 14 degree loft. This high loft is putting me off a bit, but maybe its ideal for me - I am a very high handicapper, (just a begineer really) mid fifties, and only getting max drive of 170 yards at the moment, with my old Callaway Big Bertha Hawk Eye.

So, should I grab the 14 degree loft R15? Maybe someone like me needs the higher loft?

The higher loft at your distances may get you more air time and carry.

You need higher swing speeds for lower lofts.

Dustin Johnston one of the biggest hitters on tour is using 10.5 degrees which is quite high for a pro.

Its also adjustable so you could set it at 12.5 if you wanted. Best thing to do would be to try one out first.

It's possible it's a ladies driver they sometimes have high loft, although I'm sure they would have said if it was.

I have a 13.5 degree one and it does shorten my drives. Basically a 3 wood. Can get roughly 220 yards max out of it.

I have the adjustable R15 and am similar to you. Playing off 25 and relatively new to the game. I have it lofted high and can generally get 220 - 250 off the tee. I've tinkered with lowering the loft and turned it straight back as I am more consistent and less prone to wayward shots
