    Dear All,

    I am looking for holiday package for myself and my other half to visit Melbourne but can't find anything good. Our budget is 3000 euros max all inclusive from Dublin.
    We have never been to Australia. Looking to get Flight + hotel deals. And is car hire required there? We would like to spend 8 days there.

    Any tips please or company/website where I can get a good deal?

    Thanks

    8 days is not a lot of time there considering how long it takes to travel, and you'll likely be jet lagged for the first few days... Honestly if you've never been to Australia before it would probably be better to save up for another while until you can afford to go for a few weeks and travel around a bit more...

    Anyway, I don't know of any packages but you should be able to find flights and accom for 2 people for 8 days under 3k. There's excellent public transport in Melbourne so you wouldn't need to rent a car for the city but if you want to explore Victoria outside of Mel, like the Great Ocean Road or Philip Island you might want to rent a car. You can see these things by tour bus either, depends on your preference.

    Many thanks for suggestion.

    We will plan for atleast 12-14 days then.

    If anyone knows of 2 weeks deal in Australia then please let me know.

    I don't think there are package holidays as such, like you would get to Spain etc. There are tours you can do when you are over here to see parts of Victoria and you can probably book them from at home before you come over, but, you might have better choice when you are here.

    Would you look at Air BnB for accomodation?

    I have never used Air bnb; a friend of mine had a bad experience in Ireland. Is it any good in Australia?
    How much are tours like over there? Was thinking of renting a car..so we have more flexibility, do you know if i need to get international driving licence or do they accept Irish licence?

    I've done three airbnbs in aus/nz and have no complaints. You can use your irish licence for up to three months, must be a full licence.

    Why have you chosen Melbourne? Have you done much research? Do you know what you want to see and do?

    Well a friend has visited and had a craic there. Would you recommend any other city in Australia?? Sydney?

    I just know of Port cambell national park, zoo, skydeck, and some beach sides in Melbourne.
    We like to see Natural beauty.

    I have full Irish licence. What's the average cost of air bnb for 2 adults?

    It's a long way to go to see a zoo and a National Park!

    Its a long time since I was in Melbourne (2003).
    • Places I visited were Flemington racecourse in the first week of November for the Melbourne Cup (and less crowded the following two days);
    • Healesville Sanctuary (Australian wildlife reserve) 65 kms away;
    • Visit Domaine Chandon winery on the way to/from Healesville;
    • Crown Casino Melbourne (I play poker);
    • Melbourne Sea World Aquarium very near the Crown Casino;
    • I went to Ireland V France in the Rugby Wold Cup at the Etihad Stadium which is in the city;
    • The Queen Victoria Market is a must; it is located just on the north edge of the CBD (central business district). Go into the shops in the street fringing the market.
    • There is a wildlife museum somewhere but I can't remember.

    It took me a week to get over jet lag. On the second day I played golf. On one hole my drive nearly reached the green on a par 4 but needed 11 shots to hole out.

    Best city I've seen.

    Well could you please suggest what other attractions are there?

    Note the weather is like Ireland from May-Sept

    I don't think you have planned it yet so you need to read up and do some research.

    Check the 'internet'
