I know you have to watch your back anywhere at night but is being alone on the DART at about 10pm on a Friday an absolute no-no? I'd usually get the bus as its closer but there on strike on Friday.

It'll be busier than normal during the strike which makes anything untoward happening less likely with the large patronage

Have never seen anything untoward on the Dart so I wouldnt see a problem with travelling alone on it. There is always a few people on it & probably more now with the strike. You should be careful from the DART stop to wherever you are walking though if it's isolated.

It's fine but best advice is to go in the front carriage near enough to the drivers cab, least chance of any possible hassle there.

I would be more worried of what station you're getting off at tbh! Dart is grand itself.

The Dart is fine in my experience, even on late night quiet ones. Regular patrols of security as well.

With the strike the Dart will be busier than ever at that time, and Friday evenings are fine.

As always though, use common sense wherever you go.

I'm not concerned about that at all. Need to travel from Tara St to Sydney Parade and then only have 200m to walk.

I wouldn't be worried at all - there will be relatively large numbers still using the service st that time.

Dart is fine at that time (and later)

Have taken that journey many times and never saw any issue.

I just thought being the weekend there might be some undesirables hanging round it.

In my experience the Dart can be trouble late at night. A gang of kids tried to mug me one night about 10 o'clock. Not a very nice experience. No security around. You always have to be careful on public transport in Dublin.

You're talking about basically going between town and D4 south side you'll be fine.

•Unlike the Red Line and "little red line" (Ballyogan Wood to The Gallops on the Green Line) DART doesn't have those odd 8-13 year old traveler feral children with unwashed tracksuits and dirty faces that seem to wander the line during the middle of the school day getting off only to try find unlocked or poorly locked bikes, then at night graduating to showcasing their early onset personality disorders by talking randomly to people (usually women as they don't come up higher than a guys chest partly, I'd imagine, from poor nutrition partly from bad genetic code) in a really odd way you have to hear to get as it can't be described. They're physically harmless, ATM anyway, give um a few years.

•There are three well known annoying little shi:; though. A young black kid about 13 who's oddly always going up to the Micheals school kids to brag about his latest ASBO or whatever, he thinks he's such a legend which is truly sad and utterly depressing to watch cos you can see and predict his entire future real easy and you know full well even though the posh kids are laughing with him inside they know they can afford to find it funny cos their futures arnt the ones preordained to be a pile of crap. Never seen him at night and he's harmless in the violent sense AFAIK.
The other two are kids 10-12 sometimes with a third who play with a ball which in the confined space flying everywhere is really annoying. They don't talk they shout convos. They also have single handily convinced me ADHD is real because they can't stay easy, two seconds after their asses hit the seats they're up again changing carriages to sit elsewhere quickly moving again. They sometimes talk to you..ignore um they'll get bored and pi() off.

•DART doesn't have the white tracksuit brigade until you get north of Clontart Road.

•Junkies don't seem to love it the way they love hanging at the Luas helping you with your change to guilt you into giving them cash (or trying so hard to be 'helpful' they make you drop your tablet and the screen cracks making you want to beat them until the gene pool (not to mention social insurance fund) is safe once more but you force yourself to calm down, partly from pity partly from knowing the poor b---d won't make it past 40 anyway and that's punishment enough...). Any junkies you'll see on DART usually just loudly argue ("ur nat getting any mare e my meTAdone now ye bousey ye") then will be practically humping as they get off the train. They're never seen without their trademark beaten up plastic shopping bag and Dutch Gold.

•At Sydney Parade, Sandymount or Landsdown instead of being beaten up you might feel the overwhelming urge to beat someone up yourself as two loud girls get on and proceed to have the following convo so loud your earphones can't block it out:
"I wuz loike sooo morto loike you've no idea oh my gawd Josh put the pictures right on Facebook!!"
"Oh no gawwd you were so hammered why did he even take them?"
"He said it was funny but loike that'll be the end of him well see who's funny Josh when there's no more Netflix n chill.."
"Oh but he's such a hottie though thought you loved that rugby type"
"I did roysh but loike he's such a dick and he totally tagged me n everything so there's all these noice pics of me there in just the right light n all cos you know you wanna project your best foot forward into the thing so you don't put pics up of you loike in everyday things looking boring n stuff and ESPECIALLY not when you've gotten smashed way more than you should've and he won't take it down I should sue him for loike slander isn't that what it's called?"
"Err yeh think so slander yeh roysh"
    "Roysh yeh that's it"
Then to your horror you see UCD logos on their bags and you feel bad for your college but that feeling quickly vanishes as you wonder how they got in in the first place.

So yeh, bit of a rant there on my pet annoying DART experiences so... sorry but...you'll be fine.

I think it was quite anaccurate portrayal of the Dart and the Luas. I'm waiting for the Dublin Bus rant now.
