    Hi.

Going in to renew a passport in the Dublin office.
I was wondering what are the payment methods?
Can I pay by card at the office,or I need to bring in a postal order?

    thank you.

    Hi,

Somebody may be able to help me with something. I have lost my Irish Passport containing my US Visa. I have an appointment on Tuesday in the passport office but one of the requirements is that you have to show show proof of travel to apply for a passport at the passport office. I cannot show proof of travel because I cant book a flight until I have firstly my passport and then secondly I have to go to the American Embassy with my new passport and wait a few days for them to return it to me with the visa. I have to go back to work in New York asap but I am just unable to book a flight before I get the passport & visa.

Can anyone advise as to weather they will let me apply for the 3 + days passport at the passport office without proof of travel given my circumstances? I have tried contacting the passport office many many times and cannot get through and I have got no response to emails either.

Any help or advise you have here is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

If you have to "go back to work in New York asap", then perhaps a letter from Work, or if you already have an appointment with the US embassy, bring that as proof.

The staff in the passport office are extremely helpful. They have people on the floor (as in not behind the counter) to give advice and help. Approach one of them and they'll do all they can to help. I saw one guy when I was there who missed a flight because of a lapsed passport. He was from Belfast but turned up at the Dublin Office. The assistant told him that if he was back by the afternoon with an application signed at a garda station he would have his passport for his re-booked flight the following morning. She then brought him outside and put him in a taxi for Pearse St Garda station. I couldn't speak more highly of them.

Although it is an unusual state of affairs, the only way to contact the passport office without going in to them is to contact them on Twitter. I had reason to do this recently where I hadn't quite left enough time for them to process my application before holidays and they were very helpful. Ultimately, I got a call from a guy in the office telling me there was an issue with the photos I provided but promising to have the passport ready the day after I got proper photos done. He gave me his name etc. so that I could mail everything directly back to him.

I was very impressed overall, especially since this was in and around the Brexit vote.
