Samsung Galaxy S7Edge Spontaneously Cracked

As per title, I was using my s7 edge in the car (passenger) the other day, typing out a post for facebook. Stopped typing for a minute held it in my hand looking out at something when I resumed typing I saw what I thought was a hair, went to blow it away then wiped and realised it was a hairline crack at the top of the screen. The phone wears a good quality branded cover all the time and has never been dropped, there isn't a mark or a scratch on it. This definitely didn't happen by anything that I did.

Has anyone experienced similar? I see plenty of talk about similar occurrences on forums. I have notified Samsung who are dog slow to come back to me but are basically saying to send it back and they will price the repair. I told them I consider it to be a warranty issue but they keep referring to it as a repair. Anyone got any advice on how to handle this for a positive outcome?
