Just wondering can anyone tell me if they are using Eir TV & Broadband and would they recommend?

I'm currently with Virgin and I am out of contract,I'm really thinking of switching as the sports pack with Eir is a big seller for me I'm just questioning how good the broadband. I stream a lot and download so I'm just wondering can anyone give some feedback on their own experience with Eir?

    Thanks in advanceðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

I've no experience with eir, but going by the website and ignoring introductory offers, they seem very expensive for comparable packages. In fact €20 more expensive on like for like packages, which was basically the cost of the sports package pre dispute. Eir normal tv package notably has no sky channels,in fact vast majority of their channels are fta anyway.

So I decided to stay with upc, the sports subscriptions are just eating themselves at this point, plenty of sport on normal tele provided you care not for premiership.

All very good points ,I didn't notice that most of the channels are free to air,but we kind of checked out what channels we watched in the house and they seemed to have all of those. I didn't notice the extra €20 though musty have a look at the packages again ðŸ‘

No eurosport, I knew there was something else missing! I watch that a lot, cycling etc.

Not clear from their website what is in HD

It's well worth looking into all this in detail, sky is only option at the moment for the full package, that will also cost a fair whack though!

    If I may comment
I have eir vision as I am an existing eir and phone and broadband customer and they gave me a good deal on the tv. If I hadn't of been offered it I would of stuck to my FTA and Saorview.

leaving aside telephone and broadband my tv deal is the following out of an 18 month contract.

evision essential free for 12 months instead of €15
1/2 price sky sports and movies for 12 months €24.50 instead of €49
e vision experience €8 pm instead of €10
HD free instead of €5 pm

    plus a credit of €80

Full price for my tv would be €79 pm and I get it for €32.50 pm

naturally after 12 months this will go up but I can reduce down to the basic package at €15 pm

when it comes to my contract renewal I can live without it, having the box is handy for series linking and recording.

Re HD there is a free hd pack which includes rte1,2 tv3 and tg4
if you have the €5 HD pack its gives a few extra hd channels such as bbc1,2 4, UTV Ireland Fox comedy discovery eir sport 1,2 and the BT sports.. There is no HD on sky sportss and movies.

push them hard on offers promotions re the TV.

prior to getting evision I had cut the subscription cord for about 4 years and would quiet happily go back to FTA.

    I hope this helps

Quick bump on this - is it fair to say that your broadband experience is going to be dependent on your location to some extent at least?

    Maybe start a new thread.

We don't drag up old threads, because information in previous posts may be long out of date and we get people replying to them to argue stuff that's no longer true
