Veneers Dilemma

My Story in short: I had really bad teeth as a child and was often slagged/bullied called bugs bunny etc which made it very hard for me to smile & effected my confidence in a big way, when I hit 19 and got my first job I got braces and after them I had to get 2 veneers either side of my 2 front teeth (incisors) as they were much smaller so made them fit inline. I spent over 4500 punts at the time in total which obviously was a lot of money.. but had perfect teeth which was often said to me.. happy days..

    Fast forward 12 years

My 2 front teeth had moved over the years from playing sport etc so I decided to get them fixed this year had been putting it off for years.. went back to my Orthodontist and he give me a little ecco brace great.

    Here lies the problem

One tooth is much shorter then the other due to it getting more wear over the years etc So my orthodontist said I have 2 options get them bonded or get veneers but my Dentist will advise.

So went to my Dentist and he said bonding wouldn't last as its my 2 front teeth & he would advise against veneers as my teeth are healthy best to leave alone. but if I want he will do either.

Side note: in the last couple of years I have switched to a electric toothbrush and after awhile I noticed that the 2 veneers I had fitted either side of my 2 front teeth years ago stand out as been whiter than the rest of my teeth even after getting my teeth whitened and has become very noticeable (as I am obviously very conscious of my teeth/smile) plus this year was the first time I've been to a dentist in over 6 years & he couldn't believe how healthy my teeth are :D

    Dilemma
I am looking for advise on what to do? I know this is purely cosmetic but my child hood obviously has me very conscious of my smile (and effected me in more ways the one) and old memories are flooding back!!
What is so big about getting veneers other than the expense but I think they are a lot cheaper than years ago! or should I just leave them as is, but I dont think I can... and bonding wont last so I have been told.. and actually cant see it lasting as what my dentist said made sense..
The reason he's against veneers is cause you have to take away a bit of the tooth which is healthy..

    Sorry for the essay....

    Get a second opinion

Yeah get second opinion. If you want nice teeth get some veneers and bonding, whats the problem. Bonding and some whitening is very conservative if done well. Veneers are conservative enough also. Sounds to me like the benefits to you would far outweigh the biologic loss of tooth structure. Find somebody good to do the work.

Where do you go for a second option as I have been to my local dentist for years and there's a lot of cowboys out there. Is it possible you could pm me someone Fitzgeme?

As it stands I got 2 opinions, 1 by my orthodontist to get bonding done or veneers, went to my dentists with both options and he down played both. He said bonding wont last as its my 2 front teeth & be a waste of money & veneers he said he wouldn't like to do cause your taking away bits of a healthy teeth. Least he's honest & not just after money but doesn't solve my problem...

Sorry to bring up a old thread mods feel free to move..

I have yet to do anything on the above I tried to just live with it.. but noticed now that in pictures my front teeth are very noticeable and is affecting me from smiling now! 1 is slightly shorter than the other only 1/2 mm and has actually been pointed out to me :(

Can anyone recommend a few places that do veneers on the southside? That were good. I was thinking of going to the place at the Red cow if anyone one has experience or can recommend somewhere could you Pm me.

    Be most appreciated!

    Thanks
    B..
