I'm pleased with Merlin own brand. https://www.merlincycles.com/merlin-wear-elite-cycling-bib-shorts-78605.html

Spent 4.5 hours in the saddle without a problem and it's only €53.

I got a new pair of bibshorts recently from Rivelo (Tideswell), via SportPursuit. I would recommend you have a look there, but be aware that if you are looking for them in a hurry you will need to go elsewhere, as the SportPursuit way is to not hold stock, but periodically order to cover their orders. It is how they can deep discount though.

OT, but that's not they work, they take out of season/partial orders and sell whatever they get, which is why they often don't have all sizes even at the very start of sales .the delay is because they only ship once a sale is over to save money

DHB essentials shorts are currently on sale for €23.
That is bargain basement price compared to Lidl or Aldi stuff. I have several pairs of shorts and have had most of the name brands at some time or other. This season I've used the one pair of DHB essentials every single time 5 days a week ( bought 2 pairs and a pair of bibtights for the princely sum of €74). I've done 200 km sportives in them. Hand wash after use and drip dry outside, ready for next day. They won't ever score you any poseur points outside the coffee shop but that is only negative I can think of...

The decathlon 700 shorts are very good for the price and have a great pad in them. On sale at the moment and to be honest I can't see anything less than 80 euro being any better. £24.99stg (in certain colourways), but they were a bit cheaper than this in the Belfast store itself the other week. I have had a pair of the 700 series winter tights for the last 18 months as well and they are also very good.

Have a look on eBay for Suarez stuff. I got a pair of bib shorts (in black/blue as worn on the GDBR) for about €30 delivered):

Really happy with them. Pad was comfortable for pretty much the whole distance, and it's certainly been fine for my usual spins of 30-50kms.
