    Hi all

just looking for a bit of a steer - husband offered a new job pending references of course. The employer before his current employer (i.e. job before last), has said that they will provide a reference stating that he worked there for x period of time i.e. no personal references etc etc.

Is this unusual???? Worried sick it will go against him :(

It's not an unusual situation at all, it is company policy of many places to give the reference type you describe. If your husband was on good terms with any members of the management team where he worked previously he could have a word with them, they might be willing to accept a phonecall from new employer.
