Lovely Figurines at Çatalhöyük

I saw a few articles today suggesting a recent find of this figurine, but it is so difficult to tell if is very recent find or just a spate of reports on an old find. Either way i find these figurines at Catalhoyuk to be fascinating, not to mention the whole place itself and the age of it, and it being buried. I would love to go there. The little figurines are so evocative, of, (well I feel) an awe of the cycle of reproduction and the magic of fertility. An act which must have seemed al the more incredibly magical in those times.

Some interesting stuff coming out of Anatolian neolithic, for example we now have 20+ full genomes from western Anatolia which gives us an insight into EEF (Early European Farmer) population structure.
