I'm trying to load new siemens software to windows 10. I got a CD and A usb with the license.

    Cant find license manager?

    The instructions are as follows:

Transferring the license using the Automation License Manager Precondition:

USB stick with the license to be transferred.

    1. Start the Automation License Manager via the icon or from the Start menu. The Automation License Manager opens.

    2. Insert the USB stick. "Removable Disk" appears below "Own Computer".

    3. Select the entry "Removable Disk" on the lefthand side. On the right-hand side you can see the available licenses on the USB stick.

    4. Transfer the license by dragging it and dropping it onto the local hard disk or use the righthand mouse key. - OR - In the shortcut menu, please select "Transfer... ".

    5. In the window that opens, select where the license should be transferred to (target). After the license has been transferred, this is shown on the target drive.

Where do I fine automatic license manager

I click on Cd and it has 8 folders none are license manager.

    license
    set up
    auto run
    set up (different icon)
    set up.cfg
    siemensd
    siemense
    sinutrain_ booklet

Sounds like a specialised application - is it compatible with Windows 10?

It says it should be in the Start menu after running the setup application from the CD though.

Seems to be something to do with windows 10 alright. anyway around this. the software is on my laptop just wont activate licence.

lecture mentioned something about running it in administrator, I have no idea.

Find the executable that you want to run, then right click on it.
Click "properties", then "Compatibility". On this screen, tick the box for "compatibility", and select the version of Windows that you know works.

Then tick the box for "Run as Administrator"

That'll give you the best odds of success.

The license manager is now on my desktop. the only option I had was selecting windows 8. still have problem license unavailable.

According to the instructions above, the license file should be on the USB stick you were given.

Insert this and look under This PC/My Computer. It'll probably show as "Removable Disk (E: )" or similar

Open it and you'll probably see your license file. Copy this to your desktop (drag and drop or right-click Copy then right-click Paste on the Desktop)

Start your software and when it prompts for the license, look to Browse/Open it from the Desktop

check for support forums for the particular product whatever it is
Siemens are a big company so they have lots of software

try running the setup app as administrator if that's the manual / readme says you need them

try running setup in compatibility mode for the version it's supposed to be for
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/windows-make-older-programs-compatible

or try siemens website for updates / latest version
