Considering you can get pretty much unlimited calls, texts and data for €9.51 less per month @€;15 from the likes of lyca, over 24 months that works out at €228.24 more you'd be paying on this deal, with a plan that could see you spending even more.

You'd probably get a much better android phone for €228 than the 5s and you'd also be out of contract, which will be important once June 2017 comes and the EU will be open for mobile operators, probably see even better deals come along :)

I'm on this deal since a few months ago. Love the 5s, not a heavy user so effectively spending about a fiver extra a month than I would have been with the 20 euro PAYG deal.

I've been looking at this all week and can't decide. 24 month contract - will the 5s not be a dinosaur in a year and half?
    Hmmm...

    Simple:

If you are looking for a very good handset and have feck all money to hand to finance a purchase but can find €6 per week for the next 2yrs and are primarily a data user as opposed to a heavy minutes and texts user then it's a good deal.

If you have a few hundred € spare, then you can of course do better by purchasing handset (unlocked) separately and choosing one of the better plan deals with the added benefit of not being tied to contract/service provider.

My daughter was in the former bracket. She availed of the offer and is very happy. In fairness I did not contest her decision as it's at least a start of her venture into the world of direct debit billing ! And she's funding it herself :)

It's already a 3 year old phone. The iPhone 7 launches in a couple of days, they'll probably be on to the iPhone 8S by the time the 24 months are up.

If the €25.41/month contract is something you'd use anyway, then it's not a bad freebie/backup phone as flyandrain says.

The 5s will be outdated very quickly. 24v months is very long time to be tied down to a contract

Regardless of how old the model of phone is its a good quality phone and it will easily last you the two years.

Actually the phone is 49 so not free.

The 5s is very similar to the iPhone 6 speed and feature wise.

If you want a cheap iPhone, its like a cheaper SE.

The only really drawback IMO is the 16GB. Which is a bit tight if you are heavy user. Also the three network which isn't the greatest. In my opinion.

it is free if you get this offer from carphone warehouse, and 49 euro extra if you get this offer from three

Well, i think it is a bargain for me.:D:D

24 Months contract with Three network, €25.41 per months, you get 100 mins and ultimate data, and also an APPLE IPHONE 5S 16GB for free,

i reckon that is good idea of having an iphone as a backup phone.

If you are happy with three ayce data then this is only 24x5 extra for the phone over the prepay sim.

If it suits it's a good deal. If not then it obviously isn't for you.

I wouldnt touch the 3 network ever again, broke my heart with dropped calls and zero bar coverage.

Check out the their official f/b page, thousands and thousands of customer complaints throughout the country

If you are a current user, and are a happy one at that, I hope the day never comes when you have to phone their customer support

That is the main issue with this offer.

The quality of the three network. If you are already using it and have no problems you might be ok.

I think it's slowly getting worse.

I'm on three network past two years I travel around the country a fair bit and I roam in Europe too and never have issues with coverage.

This deal has been going all year. I would be expecting a bump in phone to the 6 or SE soon. By the time this contract is up, the phone will be 5 years released!

But likely still getting updates and security fixes unlike most android phones even after a year stop getting updates if they get them at all.
