Is the sensor scratched

I've noticed this scratch on my 5DII just recently. I get my camera/sensor cleaned twice a year with Canon/Image Supply Systems - so am wondering if this is a scratch or mildew and is it fixable. You can see the little lines on the top left corner which I've highlighted in a red box.

If it is fixable would love some recommendations.

    Thanks

I would try a different lens and check the mirror. There's also a speck below the highlighted part of the image. Also lens?

Different lens. That looks like a scratch on the rear element of the lens you were using.

Also, when checking, try taking a picture of a flat white wall. Shows up the detail more on anything which shouldn't be there.

looks like either some fibres stuck to the sensor or fungus. Too sharp to be scratches on the lens.

I wouldn't let ISS clean your sensor. I left two cameras with them during the Summer and they came back dirtier that I had left them in. Even left greasy fingerprints on the screen.

It could be a scratch on the focus screen. This sits up in the mirror box (and is easy to replace). I've scratched my focus screen before, and replaced it myself.

When I first saw your photo, I thought they were overhanging tree branches. :D

You could get a sensor cleaning kit and clean it yourself.

If that's a shot from the camera though, a scratch on the focusing screen wouldn't show up in the shot.

I'd say it should be visible if the mirror is locked up, should be on the bottom left hand side of the sensor. The weird thing is that it's so sharp, even dust on the sensor is normally more diffuse than that. Hopefully it's not fungus that's gotten in between the IR filter and the sensor.

Shot was taken at f11 so my guess is that it's fibres from poor cleaning.

Investing in a good quality sensor cleaning kit and learning how to use it is worth it. My kit includes a sensor scope which allows the sensor to be viewed and you can see any contaminents.

Looks like fungus on sensor. Just set in manual mode shutter speed 10s or more and take a shot without lens. Camera will rise shutter blades for 10s and you should be able to see is the sensor clean or not.
