Shared dish upgrade - Options please

    Hi all,

My apartment has enjoyed an active dish connection (since I connected up to a shared dish several years ago).

Mgt. Co. are 'upgrading the Sky shared dish system', essentially bringing in a contractor to remove all external wiring and make it internal (and presumably do away with any rogue shared dish connections like mine as well as any rogue dishes up on the roof).

Any idea how I might proceed? I do love having my fressat box and want an active connection to a dish. I'm thinking I'll just have to bite the bullet and take a subscription with SKY...with connection and setup it could be mad money.

    Thanks

Sorry that I don't have the answer but interested to see what replies you get. Due to get "fully enabled" service for apartment block. Was wondering if I could just connect to service or whether I could subscribe for say min contract of year and then have satellite feed for my apartment

Our management company recently installed a shared dish. They offered a number of options including free to air and sky. Free to air customers had to pay a one off connection fee of 55. Worth asking if you mgt company will offer something similar.

Only as a matter of interest, as I do not use a shared dish, what makes your connection 'rogue'?

The dish belongs (theoretically) to the installer. Although there are legal arguments that it's a fixture but I digress...

The OP has simply split off and plugged into a Freesat box. Personally I think he's done nothing wrong but I doubt anyone making a profit out of this will share my happy go lucky, care free, live and let live attitude.
