Fairport Convention and English folk rock

Just started getting into Fairport Convention; specifically Unhalfbricking and Liege & Lief, two pretty incredible albums to be fair.

Once you get over the trad-isms of the music and the vocals, you get to appreciate everything else - the musicianship, the guitar playing of Richard Thompson, the great drums, the arrangements, and of course Sandy Denny's mighty voice.

I'll check out the albums before and after these (What We Did On Our Holidays and Full House) but I've heard snatches of what was released later post-Richard Thompson and it doesn't really appeal to me.

Also interested in Richard & Linda Thompson's work. Going to also check out Fotheringay (Sandy's post-FC band) and also Pentangle sound interesting, especially the "Cruel Sister" album.

Will be nice listening coming into the winter; something about English folk rock, autumn, and a mug of real ale that go together very well! :)
