I can certainly vouch for Cancun at that time of the year.

Very lucky to say we've been there :D Couple of years ago now, so well before the yank-ification ;) We lived in Canada for 4 years so it was cheap as chips to go from there :) It was amazing!! Definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Seen a very cheap deal for Vegas in January with click and go. You could upgrade the hotel and maybe combine it with a week in cancun or somewhere
Edit: flights are great too, you can select a short stopover (less than 2 hours) for the same price

Apart from a nice hotel what is so great about dubai? It sounds very dull to me so maybe I'm missing something ?

I've never been but have a good friend who has family over there and visits quite a bit, it seems to me like if you're going all out then it's a great place, stunning modern hotels, exemplary service, incredible food and drink and general luxurious excess. Outside of that I don't think there's much to it but again this is only second hand knowledge, I've never been.

I'm a huge fan. Have been a few times and still can't wait to go back.
For me it's the perfect mix of a city and a beach holiday.

Some of the things I love about Dubai:
    - Heading up the highest building in the world
    - Seeing the Dubai fountains (bigger than the Bellagio ones in Vegas)
    - Ziplining over said fountains!!
    - Jet Skiing around the Palm
    - Drinks in the highest bar in the world
    - Boat trips around/in & out of Dubai Marina
    - The amazing rooftop bars
    - Sand Duning
    - Desert Safari
    - Beach Clubs
    - Visit to the Burj al Arab
    - Worlds biggest ferris wheel on the way
    - Worlds biggest shopping mall
    - Ski Dubai
    - Friday brunch!!!!
    - Beach festivals/concerts in front of the Atlantis

Not to mention the top class restaurants and bars everywhere you look. It also caters for families with some pretty epic water parks too.

    Still sound dull?!

Have been to Dubai several times so echo the above. Traffic is a pain but hey ho. Hotels are fab, beaches are gorgeous. Friday brunch is basically Sunday lunch but all you can drink champers (find a good spot). And of course cocktails in the Emirates Towers overlooking the Corniche.

Dubai Creek Golf Club where you can sit on the decks and watch the yachts go by and people watch.

    Sri Lanka..

Beautiful beaches and people with culture thrown in.

Less hectic and noisy than India...

    And inexpensive.

All depends on how you like to spend your days... chilling by a pool? at the beach? driving to see culture? surfing?

Half and half I suppose, I love sun worshipping by a pool and himself loves doing excursions and seeing places.. so it will be a mix of both :)

Thanks! I will check it out!
