    Hi guys,

My vacuum sealer has given up the ghost and I have plans to make some sous vide chicken tomorrow evening. Is there anywhere in Dublin I can pick up a vacuum sealer or is online the only option?

    Thanks for your help.

If you don't succeed in finding an actual one tomorrow, a visit to your local friendly butcher might be worth a try... they usually have vacuum packing machines and might do the needful for you if you ask nicely.

(Disclaimer - I have never seen, never mind cooked, anything sous vide, so have no idea if it's just regular vac packing or something else entirely!)

That might actually work if I found a friendly butcher, can't believe there is no where to pick one up though!

Try the kitchen dept. in Arnott's or BT, or Stock maybe?

I'd have also said Argos would be a good bet, but they don't appear to have one on the Irish site (but do in the UK!)

If you are stuck you can use the water immersion technique.

Some pedants will say it's not sous vide as the term means under vacuum.

Went with this in the end, it works but obviously not quite as well as a machine. Sous vide is just such a fantastic way to cook, everyone should try it.
