    hello all
    problem with 2 windows
1)when closed, on the outside the top of the window it sits tight while at the bottom there is a gap, savage draught at the bottom
2)when closing the other window you have to pull up when closing, if you dont it wont close correctly
is it a simple case of adjusting the hinges?
    thanks

Sounds like the hinges are broken.

There should be no in/out movement of the sash once it's closed, same idea when it's open, it should only be able to slide along the hinge, no lateral movement.

Assuming they're PVC Windows, there won't be any adjustment.

Hinges see pretty straightforward to change if you're handy, you just have to make sure you get the right ones, as there are differences in thicknesses etc.

I think there can be different in length too. Sort of remember poster Forty Seven saying how he had got the wrong length ones online.
If they are from Munster Joinery, they have repair crews on the road.

Yeah, the length is pretty straightforward, but some are thicker than others, plus some older window profiles need different hinges as the hinge recess in the sash is deeper than on modern ones. Then you have side hung and top hung hinges.
