Virgin Media 'Upgrade' Question

Right now I'm on 30mb Fibre Power Broadband with Virgin Media, for €45 per month. I went to the site to the part about upgrading existing package, so I could avail of the 240mb package for €50 per month. However, the process it lead me through was just the standard 'buy a broadband package here'.

My question is: When I buy the 240mb package, does it automatically cancel my previous 30mb setup? I mean, surely it wouldn't allow you to pay for both at the same time, right?

Yeah, you would be swapping one for the other. Be aware that upgrading restarts your contract. You would probably need a new modem too ( you're likely on a eurodocsis 2 model, which is why you're still on 30mb)
No harm in calling their cancellation department and try and haggle 6 months half price. Say you got an offer from eir/sky/Vodafone
