    Hi all,
If someone changes their Full EU Licence to Full Irish Licence what is the start date for Licence for insurance purposes.
e.g. If some one holds Full EU from last 5 years and now is in process of switching to full Irish and wants to get car insured in Ireland what would they write in the section where insurance company is asking the date of issue of licence.
    Please let me know.

    Thanks

    EU or Irish One?

Changes from insurer to insurer, some were telling me its start of getting the Irish licence which was a lot of bull. I raised complaint with one of them and they didn't change their stance despite me telling them that it's illogical if only due to the fact that we have full NCB earned in Ireland etc.

I took my money to the ones who respected the date when my original driving licence was insured. In the process, 123.ie lost two car insurance deals with no claims ever, full NCB etc, free money for them if you ask me.

AXA and Allianz are among those who will respect your original date.

Of course it's "original" licence date which matters. Generally it should be date you first passed the test/ applied for licence.

Insurer has no real way of finding out when did you swap your licence from EU to Irish, as it's not noted on licence document.
