Peugeot 207 - electronic anti-theft faulty

Hi all, I bought a Peugeot 207 a few months ago and the electronics is starting to act up. As I put the key in the ignition, "electronic anti theft faulty" comes up on the dash board and I cannot start the car. It cranks but doesn't turn over. Same problem with the spare key. It's been like this for a few weeks, but the car usually starts after a couple tries, until yesterday where the car just wouldn't start all day. It's fine again this morning but I will get it checked at a Peugeot dealer next week. I just want to know if other people had similar experiences and how they got it fixed/what was the cost? Thanks :-)

Your immobiliser is faulty. Possibly the ring around the ignition that reads the chip in the key is faulty

Thanks! What's my best bet? A Peugeot dealer or a local garage?
