Passing by compensation?

Hi, was just wondering if you are allowed to pass by compensation in a supplemental. Lets say you pass all your exams in your first attempt except for one, e.g. economics. And then you score 35% in your summer test. Can you pass that exam by compensation?

It depends on the department, you'd have to ask !
