As a general rule all cheap flat screens have terrible sound.

Just use external powered speakers. Ask around , someone may have some old computer speakers.

All soundbars are way overpriced compared to using the line in / aux in socket on an old stereo system. If you can't beg/borrow/steal you can probably pick up a decent brand name one for €20-30 secondhand or in a charity shop.

Hi. Any thoughts on this TV? I've read some reviews that the sound is poor but would it still be a bargain with a sound bar?

JVC are one of the cheapest TV's you can buy. I cannot comment on value as I have never owned one.
As a rule of thumb. Make your mind up on size. Fix your budget. Research and more research on manufacturer (JVC get fairly poor reviews)

I was actually looking at this tv as my own went kaputt.I used a set of computer speakers on another tv as the sound was muted due to it being wall mounted and the speakers are on the back.I have an old stereo system hooked up to the one that broke.

The speakers I use are something like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Z313-Speaker-System-Black/dp/B003L92O5Q/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1473517821&sr=1-6

Thanks all for your input so far. I had a look at it today in Currys. Picture looked ok I thought.

I'll try out your idea captain midnight with the PC speakers and see how it goes

True, it is now just cheap chinese generic stuff as JVC were sold off a few years back, but its not as though you are paying over the odds for it as JVC products are cheap as chips now

Vestel in Turkey make JVC TVs for Currys under license. They make dozens of OEM tvs such as Bush, Nordmende, Walker, Alba, Hitachi, Finulux and some lower end Panasonic models. ( CX range I think) so quality will be on par with them.
They tend to have a clunky feel to the EPG and flimsy remote control. Otherwise they are perfectly fine.

Had a look earlier. Fine TV for the price. Would like to hear the sound first. Have a walker in the kitchen and it does the job fine. Will be using a combo STB so will use the EPG on that.
