Defo on the Cool Wall for me anyway. Casio Digitals are just the mutts nuts IMH. Real icons. The Casio G-Shock has IMHO more innovation and design flair than any Patek Phillippe. Yep, I went there. If I had seen that when I was a kid back in the early 80's I would have wet myself with sheer excitement. :D And if it was twenty quid back then, I'd have likely fainted away. :pac: Twenty quid today is a no brainer.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

£24 + 1.95 for UK delivery, on amazon uk. Have a look at the 1 star reviews. Are you registered with parcelmotel?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

No. Do you think the wach is good or bad. Way way more 5 star reviews than 1 star.

Looks good, only bad thing seems to be the case is plastic and prone to scratching.

Can you compare the prices between UK and USA? Parcel motel would be I think €3.90 or €4.90 to bring it south along with the £2 odd postage. Too late for me to do the maths:)

As one reviewer said 'if you buy it and don't like it give it to the neighbour's kid'.

    Thanks.

Yeah, was aware of case scratching and plastic casing etc.
I'm not familiar with this forum and not sure if there is such a thing as watch snobbery etc Was just wondering if people would look down on a watch like this because it's cheap, not analog etc.

I have one that I wear when I'm out hiking etc. I love it, it gets loads more compliments than the Nomos Metro I wear for the majority of the week tbh!

    Get ya

Never heard of a nomos metro but a quick google looks like you could buy about 50 Casio AE 1200's for same price. : )

I have that AE1200, among about 8 other casios, mostly g shocks. It's a great watch, light, comfortable, easy to use. And it's not big money. Go for it.

Cool watch. Might get one myself now

Go for it, I have one of these that my wife got me and it is great!

The plating is solid enough on them too, I have worn it a few times a week over last 12 months and there are no scratches to the bezel.

5 Alarms....wow, thats some cutting edge technology there :-)

The world time is so useful too, you wouldn't believe how often someone at work asks me what time it is in Jerusalem or Addis Ababa :-)

You might be joking but I find having multiple time zones as extremely helpful as I'm often on conference calls with people in different countries, it's especially handy when there's an overlap with Savings Time.

I've a multi time zone thingey on my computer so I can tell at a glance where it is in a lot of places so you would be surprised how often someone asks me the time somewhere

Same here, I'd have use for other time zones several times in the normal work day.

I was joking, but it clearly has spectacularly backfired.....
I have also used it for the above reasons :P

I think what I admire about it is that it is of its time, before google and smartphones, this was an impressive use of technology, and I am glad it is still available for us all to enjoy today.

As a matter of interest what is the alarm like on these. Is it X33 wake-the-dead type or more of an irritating beep?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,943 ✭✭✭from_atozinc

the alarm is normal enough on this. not overly loud but you can still hear it.

Question: Does anybody know if the date format can be changed on these casio watches to: day/month (instead of the american format of month / day)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,289 ✭✭✭gucci

Also I forgot to mention the best thing about the world time watches: New Years eve drinking game.....3-2-1 Happy New Year Adelaide :pac::pac: hiccup hiccup

I think those watches are cool.

I have a similar one but with analogue hands. I have three bugbears with mine. Weak alarm, I often miss it, which makes it pointless. The other is date in the USA format. All Casio's seem to do that. On mine the combinations of time, date and sec are a little odd. But I only use the digital part as for the date. On mine the bracelet was a bit sharp edged. I swapped it for another.

I like the design of the AE1200 quite a lot though. I like the lightness of these watches.

I like and own Casios but my own bug bear is the amount of unnecessary text on the face - all that text saying "10 year battery", "5 alarms", "world time", "illuminator", is stuff I don't need to be seeing every day! Would wish they could keep it a little simpler and more elegant, at least on some of their styles.

The time-zone on the one on Amazonian says it's partytime, well 'Par-T4' anyway.
I've a cheap Casio that sees more daylight than it's Rolex/Breitling counterparts.
Silicone straps are a bit handier than metal ones IMO.
