HMV staff still waiting redundancy money

    Not too surprised to be honest. With such a huge disposal of stock, for rock bottom prices on new releases even. Wouldn't be surprised if even the film studios etc aren't paid. Just can't help wondering what the point of the whole point of the exercise was. I will believe the online video service from them when I see it. Apologies if someone else has already posted about the redundancy issue. Just read about it on journal.ie

    Was the same for xtravision they were also left waiting for P45 hilco fcuked over both sets of workers but at least the HMV workers got a notice period this time no slamming the shutters during the work day.

    HMV staff were told from Hilco in the weeks leading up to closure that they were due to be paid holiday pay & redundancy on Friday. But since then letters were sent stating that they have been told to apply for redundancy pay from the Government Insolvency Payments Scheme on the 26th of September instead. This is happening after HMV in the Republic of Ireland was formally liquidated on Thursday night.

    I feel sorry for the staff in having to go through this. Hard luck to them all. They must feel devastated as they didn't deserve this at all.
