    Hi,

Any recommendations of somewhere good in Dublin to do this course and the exam?

I don't know much about CSM except the courses are a bit expensive: However, there are two alternatives to consider.

    1) PSM I from Srcum.org (Founders of Scrum)
    - PSM I stands for Professional Scrum Master
    - You can study online and then take the exam online
    - See psm.certification.guide

    2) EXIN Agile Scrum (see exin.com website)
    - This is a nice certification and contains the words "Agile" & "Scrum"
    - Again you can self study and take the exam online

    All the best

Scrum master courses are (to be honest) a waste of time (yes I am a certified scrum master and have worked in the role for 5+ years).

The only benefit of the CSM/PSM is a foot in the door of Agile project management. Also remember that Scrum is just one methodology to implement agile practises and the courses barely touch on the other methodologies.

The CSM is a general scrum master certification whereas the PSM is software specific. Both CSM & PSM were created by Ken Schwaber (CSM in conjunction with other agilists).

Having a scrum master certification in no way means you are capable of working as a scrum master.

What industry are you considering applying this in?

You are correct, this is just a certification but it is needed to get your CV accepted for an interview

However, during the interview you will be asked about your experience using Scrum and Agile.
    - Experience is the key

    Agree completely with this.

OP: there are courses on Udemy.com which are quite good and don't just instruct on Scrum.. Mastering Agile Scrum Project Management - this is offered by PMI but it is an excellent course. There are many other courses from User Stories to Estimation to Scrum ceremonies.

Experience really is the key. OP if you are going to an interview for a SM role you will need to be able to talk in terms of agile, your experience on projects implemented using agile methodologies and challenges you faced (& how you dealt with those challenges).

The scrum master role is more than just facilitation in most cases.

Before you fork out €1,000/€1,200 for a 2-day course in 'breathing', research as much as you can (using free online resources and courses as much as possible) - good site - https://www.mountaingoatsoftware.com/
