€165 for TAMS application?

Was in our advisor's office this morning going through a TAMS application for some sheep-related bits and pieces (fencing and gates)

He said they charge €165 to submit the application and upload receipts when you're eventually claiming the grant.

We already pay an annual fee for this advisory service so I was surprised that there's such a large additional cost.

Is this a standard price across all advisors?

I think that's what Teagasc are charging alright - and then they outsource to some other crowd anyway. Don't think that includes the drawings either?

I paid someone to draw and do planning application and then did the application myself. Haven't been approved yet so can't say if I did a good or a bad job of it!!

Is there much to making an application yourself?

The online system is reasonable enough and won't let you submit without most the information required, there are loads of specifications on the department website for all the grants and grant spec sheds etc.

I'm in the process of doing out a full planning permission application and tams grant for a shed and tank here, I'm doing all the drawings etc myself and will admit there are plenty of possible pitfalls, but all the information is out there, I've been in touch with a very useful person in the council, and another person in the tams department office who have helped me along the way also.

Before I saw the advisor do it, I was confused looking at the application. But now that I saw him go through it, I'd be happy to do my own.

That's always the way I guess!

Did it myself and it's a pain in the hole if you deviate from a very standard design. They're a bit ambiguous about internal shed areas, whether they're "loose housing" or lie backs etc.

If u make a mistake with the allpication will they give u a chance to remedy it or will they throw out the entire application?

Bitching about the cost of applications etc, I need an official OSI pdf map of the farm here for planning, 60 bloody euros for it, and it might as well be a screenshot of a Googlemap! That must be some cashcow for the osi!

I emailed a lad once or twice, you could be waiting two weeks for an answer, and it might be a different answer. I had one or two issues submitting the application and they were grand to deal with on that. I'd say they wouldn't be too harsh if stuff was slightly off.
