    Evening all...

I have a court appearance in the morning in relation to a speeding offence. Those documents are now with my solicitor and I didn't get a copy of them from him when I asked him to take this on. :o

It suddenly occurs to me that there was mention in them of the Clerk of the Court requiring photocopies of... what ?

    - Driving Licence ?
    - Passport ?
    - Tax, Insurance ?

Does anyone know the format of the summons, please. Thanks in advance.

You left your passport and driving license with your solicitor?

    For why, pray tell?

You need to take photocopy of your current driving licence whether full or learner, Irish, UK or other issuing authority along to the district court on the date of your hearing.

This is required in cases that may potentially on conviction lead to points being imposed on your licence.

Ps-if in district, be prepared to wait for your case to be called for hearing ALL day!! Not the quickest of processes!!

You are in court in the morning, you have had plenty of notice and a letter from the Clerk of the Court, you have engaged a solicitor, yet you are now asking strangers on the internet, well past the eleventh hour, about what to bring with you??????

    Best of luck tomorrow.

Have you been asked to produce your insurance, nct, tax by the gardai?? If you have and to date, you haven't produced, its better to take all with you tomorrow so you can produce to the prosecuting Garda in court. As the saying goes, its better looking at it than for it!!

Basically, take everything in case you are asked to produce anything tomorrow.

You have a solicitor dealing with this and he has the documents but you need to know what documents to bring? It doesn't sound like the solicitor is handling much.

Indeed if all you're doing it pitching up, trying the ol' I didn't get the letter Judge trick and then just taking the 5 points when that doesn't work, why have you engaged a solicitor at all?

Thread closed as the OP has closed their account, and I'm not happy to leave it open for people to take the piss.

Genuinely don't understand why it's so difficult to leave a civil, helpful reply to a question. There was simply no need for some of the replies on here. A bit of empathy would go a long way.
