25Plus seems to be giving an excellent quote

Not sure if it is appropriate for me to start a thread like this. My time to renew has arrived and like so many others, I got a big hike so shopped around and found that 25Plus are gyving me a much better quote than anyone else. Also, what is included seems very good.

I have read here that their customer service is appalling and that they will likely charge me for any change (such as temporary swapping insurance to another car), but that still makes them much cheaper than anyone else. I also read that they don't include legal fees in their quotes, but I see in mine that they do. I'm about to go with them and am wondering is there anything else I should be aware of about these guys?

The policy includes these and is a lot cheaper than my own (44% cheaper). I guess I'm reluctant as it kind of seems too good to be true and I'm very suspicious!

    Comprehensive Cover
Third Party Fire & Theft (TPFT) Cover
    € 300 excess
(Accidental, Theft, Fire & Malicious Damage)
    Personal Accidental Cover
    Personal Effects
    Repairer Scheme & Courtesy Vehicle
    Guaranteed Hire Car
    Online Adjustments
    Driving Other Vehicles
    Windscreen Cover
    Roadside Assistance with Home Start
    Emergency Overnight Accommodation
    Legal Expenses
    Protected NCB

    Thanks

Yes, in many instances they are indeed cheaper. But their customer service, if it can be called that, is utterly useless. Actually, it's maddening. And in some cases expensive. And wholly time consuming. Did I mention it's useless?

Every interaction is protracted and drawn out. Sometimes their website has only permitted me one enquiry per day. Things like a letter of indemnity will cost you. Or a change of address might incur a significant charge. Getting someone on the phone is impossible. They'll have some nonsense about their phone services being down on the site.

Look, insurance is one of those things you have to have and hope never to use. If you have 25plus and you find yourself in need of them, then good luck. In hindsight I wish I'd paid the extra couple of hundred and dealt with some semblance of actual customer service. Pay peanuts...

Thanks Meridiangroup. That is excellent feedback. I tend to agree that customer service is important.

The next best quotes are from AIG and Allianz. But I was under the impression that AIG were not great either. I believe that Allianze are fairly good for customer care.

    Thanks again.

I'm with 25plus and they have me insured with AIG. Have been with them 3 years now and no real complaints

Have been with 25plus for 3 years as well now, found them great to deal with, never had an issue with their customer service, completely satisfied with them

I've been insured with them for a few years, including breakdown cover.

Had to use the brakedown cover once. Arranged for a local tow truck, secure storage overnight, recovery truck to deliver my car to a garage near home, overnight hotel accommodation and hire car to get me home the next day. Couldn't have had better service (apart from my car not breaking down in the first place).

I've never had to use their accident claims service so I can't comment on its efficeincy.

I transferred my insurance online (it cost about €10) when I bought a new car and the transfer was instant and hassle free. If I had to swap cars frequently the €10s might start to add up but it's not really an issue for most people.

All in all I'm happy with my several years experience with them.

I had a policy with them, and more or less accidentally discovered early on that the driving other cars extension was limited to "in emergencies only" or some such wording.

They couldn't, or wouldn't, clarify this - and I agree with others, trying to get hold of an actual human to enquire about it was a total PITA.

As this is important cover for me to have - and it just screamed "get out clause" to me - I had to cancel the policy and got more or less the same premium from a broker (can't remember who that was with).

    Check the small print.

I've just realised, and I really should clarify - my policy was actually with It's4Women, not 25+ or whatever it's called.

But the websites, contact details, the fact that cover was with AIG and the general impression would suggest that these two were actually the same crowd operating in different niche markets (although you're not actually allowed to quote differently for men/women these days, not sure about age discrimination!)

I would stand by my caution above - check the small print.

According to the outside of the envelope I got my cert in, 25plus its4women easyinsure and boxymo all have the same address.

Just to add credence to my previous post - I've been requesting a much needed document from 25plus.ie since last Thursday morning. I've yet to elicit any success in obtaining it. I estimate that, between phone calls/ online portal/ chat function/ email etc I've probably spent upwards of an hour trying to get them to email me this one single document.

I should also add that it takes some seriously patchy customer service for me to get my knickers in a twist. I often see people complaining of Ryanair or similar and think along the lines of, 'listen, you're getting a great service at relatively insignificant cost and you just got to play ball in respect of their terms and conditions'. Not so with this shower, it's just plain bad on every level.

If you're certain you'll not experience an accident/ mishap in the coming year, I'd heartily recommend them, and also recommend you buy a Euromillions lottery ticket. Otherwise, buyer beware.

I made the mistake of swapping over to 25plus a few months ago and i regret this as they are 100% the worst insurance company to deal with. The fact that you have to 'imessage' them and then wait a day before they call you back when it suits them is a joke.

Will change to another company soon. Lesson learned. Never again.
