Hey, might not be the best place for this but... We have two lads in fixing some Windows upstairs. I'm just home and they have the carpet on the stairs ruined with some black dirt. Tried cleaning it off but won't budge. Will have to get cleaner. Any advise on what to do here? The guys are still here. I haven't said anything yet to them.

Casually say, " you'll clean up after yourselves, including the stairs, thanks"

    Don't pay until it's clean.

Well how did you get on ?

I took it up with them. They didn't bat an eyelid and just said it'd come out with a bit of vanish (which it did after I went at it). They took a bit off the cost of the job for the hassle but they seemed to think I was making a lot out of nothing. It's all cleaned up now TG (i think it was just mud on their boots so a bit of vanish did the trick) but unimpressed with their attitude.
