Layover times JFK from Shannon

I am heading to Las Vegas in 2 weeks from Shannon with a 1.30 hours layover at JFK. I booked it all with Delta. Ive been reading online about needing like 4 hours for connections in US airports.
Am I cutting it a bit tight with just 90 minutes to connect?

Anyone with experience with connecting flights in the US? I have never been to the US so would I have to go through security etc to get to the next flight?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If both flights are under the one Shannon - Las Vegas booking with Delta then you should be ok. Is your Las Vegas flight leaving the same terminal that your flight from Shannon is arriving in?

are flights arriving and departing from the same terminal? Delta uses T2 and t4 in JFK as far as I know, t2 to t4 is one train stop away, I'd say you would be cutting it very close you have to change terminals. On the other hand, if you are on a connected flight, I wouldn't worry about it - you either make it or they will put you on the next available flight.. your bags might have another idea, but hey, you will get them eventually..

If it's the same airline and terminal, you can walk off the plane and directly to the other gate. They don't segregate arriving and departing passengers at domestic terminals in the US. Having the pre clearance done in Shannon means you arrive as a domestic passenger.

Maybe Delta deliberately booked you the 90 min connection based on your final destination...........
get the adrenaline flowing, start you into that "will I or wont it make it" line of thinking....."red or black, red or black, lady luck stay with me"....;)

    I'll get my coat!

Thanks for the replies! Just checked itineraries and they depart from same terminal, therefore there is no customs/security from same terminal?
    Thanks again

Nope, when you walk off the plane you'll be in the departures area. Just check one of the screens and stroll to your next gate.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Delta have regular flights between JFK and Vegas so if you miss the first due to a flight delay they will re-book you on the next flight. If worst case scenario you get stranded overnight they will have to put you up in a hotel at their expense.

I'm doing this trip on Saturday from Dublin with delta. I have a 90 minute stop over. I arrive in terminal 4 and also depart from terminal 4 jfk I'm sure yours is the same. Wouldn't be worried. The only thing that would make me miss connection would be a delay this end. I'll let you know how it goes.

90 minutes plus the time it'll usually make up on the way over, you'll be grand.

Agree with everything above, from when you get off the first plane til you board the next needs only the time to leg it between the gates, 5-10 mins max, all airlines have minimum connection times and won't book you if you do not meet that requirement.

And with it being JFK and all, I wouldn't worry about boarding starting early for the next flight at least!

Four years ago I did Las Vegas - JFK - DUB on a EI ticket with Jet Blue metal from Las Vegas to JFK. AFAIR we only had a 90 minute connection at JFK and that involved a change of terminal at at JFK as EI was still flying from T4 at that time.

It was a bit on the tight side, not too bad but any inbound delays and it could have got interesting. But as the other posters have said as your flying from the same terminal you'll be grand.

The best memory of that connection was having a riot with the checkout lady in the duty free shop in T4.

Went up to purchase my items. "May I have your boarding card Sir?". Hand over boarding card. "Sorry Sir this is a Jet Blue card, they don't go from here. I know that I said but i'm travelling on an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. Look at the flight number! Which she refused to accept for some bizzare reason and we went around in circles for a bit. This went on for a few minutes and it then turned out the duty free items for EI108 had already been brought to the gate. So I said forget about it, grabbed my card, turned around and walked out.
