Things to do in Ireland that don't involve alcohol?

My brother is coming over and I want to plan a trip for us, I know there's plenty to do in Ireland that doesn't involve alcohol but I'm just looking for suggestions. I was thinking of a weekend of hiking or something along those lines. If anyone has any suggestions of a good outdoorsy fun activity for 2 lads let me know :)

    Thanks guys

    Hiking.

    Paintball.
    Bowling.
    Cinema.
Fishing (without beer... although what's the point in that!?).
    Canoeing.
    ...

Cycle the ring of Kerry. Then go for a heap of pints after.

    Incest.

Its fun for all the family.

Buuuuut if yer not into that. You could walk and camp along the Wicklow Way, cycle the Wild Atlantic Way, visit the castles, islands and lighthouses.

Museums, Chester Beatty library, theres loads of stuff to do.

If you can come west you could base yourself in Westport. Climb the reek (Croagh Patrick) or hike in any of the mountain ranges, you'll be spoiled for choice. You can do kayaking, coasteering etc along the blueway. Achill has plenty of watersports for you to try (and you can cycle the Greenway to get there), as does Killary Harbour. Boat trips or fishing trips out into Clew Bay if you want something more relaxing.

And Westport is a great spot for food & drink in the evenings.

Head North and drive the Antrim Coast. Stay in Derry and do some cultural stuff there.
The Northern coast is only stunning so it is.

I struggle with this too. But for me it's the god awful weather we have here. So I try and get to warm countries as much as I can, having spent some time away recently I made a resolution that I'll try not to blow all my money on nights out here and instead put it away for longer holidays in good weather.
People say things like go for a walk in a park, play golf (which I do in fairness), visit one of our beautiful beaches... but it's very rare you can step outside and know it's not going to rain for sure or you might get cold. Even in July and August. I'd say we probably get max 10 days a year where you could comfortably lie in a park for the afternoon in warm sun. It's a terrible pity because it's pretty much the only gripe I have with the old sod.

So yeah, in conclusion, maybe drink more , but only at home? Thus mindless escapism from this rainy isle under the influence of booze, whilst saving money for better holidays in warm places.

Literally the same stuff that you do anywhere in the world

Except see specific landmarks or geographical landscapes we don't have.

    We have everything.

Go climb a mountain and jump in the sea

Hey, thanks for the reply. Anywhere in Ireland and cost isn't really an issue.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Anywhere in Ireland and cost isn't really an issue.

If you had a week....you could rent a campervan and travel around to visit every county.

You could get up at dawn and have a swim and breakfast in Wicklow, stop off for lunch in Wexford, do some medieval sightseeing in Waterford and rest up for the night in East Cork.

That type of thing....do, see or visit something of historic or cultural importance.

You can drink anytime or anywhere.

There are a lot of the great things to see on our own doorstep but we are often too blind to see them.

I was in Oldbridge a couple of weeks ago at the Battle of the Boyne centre place for the first time ever. I'd quite like to walk around other significant Irish battlefields like Aughrim, Benburb, Kinsale etc.

You could go whale/dolphin watching. There's a place in Clare that's meant to be good.

There's also a place in Cork, Lough Hyne, where you can do nighttime kayak tours on a lake that has phosphorescent algae. It sounds great, I'm hoping to get down there myself at some stage.

You'd think a lad who calls himself the "craic addict" would have no trouble coming up with fun ideas!

    https://www.facebook.com/CavanCanoeCentre/

You can easily spend a full day messing about on the water.

Play a few rounds of golf locally, if thats your thing.

Extreme paintballing and go-karting over near Ballinamore, nice meal in McNeam house (Nevin Maguires place)
On to Enniskillen and visit the Castle and military museam etc.

Thats in the cavan locality anyway.

I can imagine it now your brother taking a sly swig out of a naggin while you try desperately to get the fire lit using wet firewood in the freezing rain

See we don't need alcohol to have a good time you say as he smiles at the axe

There's all sorts of things to do in Donegal besides being in the pub. There's going to the pub, going home from the pub, going to the chippy after the pub, lamping rabbits if you're too late to go to the pub, the list is endless.

Ah when you're addicted to craic you work your way through it very quickly. And then you need the next hit...and the next. And eventually you find yourself at an Ed Byrne gig desperately trying to convince yourself that if you just try hard enough you'll be able to raise a laugh.

It's not pretty, man. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Do you actually live in Ireland or did you just read about it on the internet? The weather isn't that bad FFS.
