Hipped Roof question

Hi, looking for some advice to educate myself. I have a new hipped with a slate roof and just looking under the hip tile, I don't see any sealing between where the slates meet.As the end the hip tile is just screwed to the slate and not sealed with mortar so I can see in, should there not be membrane over where the slates…

Should there be?
