    Hi all!
In the middle of building a house, just trying to decide on lighting for our living room. The living room is part of an L shaped open plan area made up of dining, kitchen and living room. We were thinking of recess LEDs but I'm having second thoughts and am wondering would a pendant light be better? Just wondering what others have gone with good or bad? Thanks in advance!

We did a mixture, pendant over the table and 3 pendants over the island. 11 recessed spots (6 in dining area, 5 in kitchen) and 5 wall lights and an led strip above kitchen cabinets.
Controlled by 7 switches so you can have different zones lit up for eating, cooking, watching TV etc... See link below for pics

A combination of task lighting, ambient lighting and accent lighting is vital, especially in an open plan space. this means spots, under counter lighting, wall lights, etc. The lighting plan should be top of the list for consideration in any new build. I find that National Lighting out in Ballymount are brilliant help every time. They will run through your lighting needs if you give them the floor area and aspect of the house and any other info they need.
