Buying a watch from Amazon.com - amazon watch warranty

Hey all. So im getting/picking out a watch as a wedding gift. We've a budget of about €400 and the watch ive got my eye on is a Tissot. I can get it in Ireland, Amazon.co.uk, or Amazon.com (future brother-in-law is living stateside).

There is a catch though. Ordering in Ireland is by far the most expensive, and out of budget. Ordering on Amazon.co.uk is a bit over budget. And finally, what seems like obvious choice, ordering off Amazon.com is by far the cheapest option, only Amazon.com sell the watch with an amazon warranty, and it wont come with a Tissot warranty.

We can scrap the idea of buying it in Ireland, its something like €550 to get it order in(actually one shop quoted me over €900). So that leaves Amazon uk and Amazon US. There's 100 in the difference, but Im going to assume the Amazon Watch Warranty will be useless here in Ireland. (Read the fine print, Warranty is valid in all states, except Florida.... so.... not Ireland).

    Thoughts?

    Anyone care to interpret this?:
This limited warranty, which is provided by Asurion Consumer
Solutions, Inc. in all states except Florida (in Florida, this
warranty is offered by Asurion Consumer Solutions of Florida,
Inc.) applies to a watch (“Watch”) purchased in the continen
    -
tal United States of America, Alaska or Hawaii from either
Amazon.com LLC or Amazon Export Sales, Inc. or any Amazon
Marketplace Seller (as provided in the shipment confirmation
email for the Watch) (“Amazon”), and lasts for two (2) years
from the date the Watch was purchased from Amazon.

Well, it doesn't seem to exclude it being sent back and returned to an address outside the US.

You've factored in the customs charges I presume? Is it available here by any chance?

Customs... nah! It's being bought in the US, from Amazon.com, so customs shouldnt be an issue.

It actually is on creationwatches.com and at a good price. I assume if you're suggesting them, you're also recommending them?

I've not used them, but plenty here have. Do a search of the forum, but I'd worry that they might send a generic box, which is not ideal for a gift - especially as Tissot tend to do nice big boxes with a small book inside etc. Could be mixing it up with someplace else though.

I have used Creation a few times without issue. Only bought Seiko's and they get shipped in a generic box unless you specify otherwise. The proper Seiko box I think was 3 or 4 euro extra. Shipping is super quick via DHL.

It's a gift from my wife to be to myself, so I guess I'll know what I'm getting. Nice heads up on the box though, if it's a few quid I'd pay that.

    To quote the site:
" Packaging: Shipped in Tissot watch box with all the watch documents.

Watch box is secured in an additional super-strong non-collapsing cardboard box."

Sounds like the proper box to me

    It does indeed.

I wonder does it matter what currency you buy it in off them?

I know my CC company has started to charge me for "overseas" purchases - a % of the purchase price. Not impressed.

I've always chosen to buy in the local currency (USD for example) as I reckon the CC rates are as good as anything you'll get.

Creation use Paypal to process payment.

Anyhoo, can I blame you when my wife asks me why I have just bought another Seiko?

It's so dangerous looking at Creation!

Was only thinking about my revolut card. I could pay in any currency for now fees, but I wasnt sure does that mean it gets shipped from elsewhere. There's only €9 in the difference paying in euro vs USD

As far as I am aware everything ships from one location, Singapore, no matter what currency.
