Anyone? I have a question about the channel selection on them, with or without a remote.

If anyone's running a PlayStation through one? Talk to me. I'll consider you the voice of god!

    Thankyou.

    Whats the question!

Its an old analogue tv. What do you want to do.

I bought one, today, second hand. No remote.

Got it to play my PS2 on. But, the buttons bring up no video channel.

The gaming boffins say I can get another sort of scart and that will automatically find the vid' channel anyway. But another boffin reckons not All CRT tv's can handle that sort of scart.

See? Ideally, I need someone with this model, running PS2 on it. To tell me how.

    You'll need a scart block.

And then you'll need a red white and yellow cable (Composite A/V cable) to connect the scart block to the Ps2.

Is there buttons on the front of the TV, then switch the channel to scart 1. It may switch to scart 1 automatically by connecting up the cable, switching on the TV, then switching on the PS2.

Seems to be a 20" CRT?

Looks incredibly like a rebadged Beko of that era, which needed the remote control to select AV, as the front buttons used to just go thru the TV channels.

As long as you had the right PS2-Scart lead that had Scart switching, it would work. Otherwise maybe a cheap universal remote, and use Beko codes.

    This place rocks!!! :D

Okay: The Gamer boys have said new scart. RG something or other? My mate's looking in his shed, tomorrow. Reckons he might have one.

STB; What ye showing me looks for all the world like what I have here (apart from the switchable bit) It came with the PS2.

Yes; There are three buttons. No; " Scart " doesn't appear in the sequence of channels those buttons show me.

I'll probably try the sequence you're suggesting, tomorrow. Had quite enough of it, for tonight!

Byte; 20" CRT is exactly what it is ;) Beko, eh? Good lord. You must know your stuff!

Scarts we have pinned down ~ though there Is the rider that some CRT's can't handle this new sort? Be just my bleeding luck!

Remote controls? For the benefit of anyone else searching on these TV's, I'll just leave this here:

What in gods name did people do, before the internet? Imagine my trying to sort through all this, what? By standing in a phone box, on a street corner?!

Thanks, people. I Will get to play again!

    So......

Connect up the cable you have to scart 1 on the back of the TV.

Buttons on TV. Press the minus button on the TV until you get below 1. Check 0 too. If you press the minus button again it should then go to AV1 or AV2 depending on what scart input on the TV you are connected to.

Did you try connecting up the cable, have the TV on, then turning on the PS2. That should automatically switch to the relevant AV channel.

Aah. Bugger. No. Tried that. I remember saying to my mate; I'll try the other scart socket. Shone a light on it. Lower one. That's AV1. Went through the card with the presented channels. No AV :(

Never mind though. I might have a scart to try, tomorrow. If I do, and it doesn't work? I have a pump action 12 bore, loaded with buck shot. It'll be good on You Tube! :p

Well I am surprised there is no defined RGB/AV Channels.

If the scart cable you have is connected to the scart it should autodetect. You have tried both scart inputs ? and turn on box last ?

(I'm assuming that the Ps2 to Scart cable you have is fully wired - one of the pins sends a 5v jump to the Tv to let it know that a device is connected and auto switches).

Its been a while since I used anything scarty.

Gutted! Got my Hitachi one here. Compared it to a visual of the Welltech one. Certainly seems to have all the same buttons?

AAA batteries though :( Everything I have around the place takes AA's.

And, I'll just point out that I live in the middle of no where. I prefer to go into the two street town just once a week. It costs me €20.00, see? Been in twice, this week.

I'll pay a taxi a tenner, to bring this scart to me, if my mate has one. I just haven't got the balls to pay another score, going back in for batteries. Not on the off chance that this Hitachi remote might work.

Those TV's didn't allow you to cycle through the external inputs from the buttons on the front of the TV, for reasons unknown! It just cycles through the 0-99 or whatever analogue channels.

    Yep!!!

Now, frankly? I've never Had a TV ..... for watching TV on! I'm sure I remember seeing RTE1 (?) on their list ~ other than ..... I dunno. P1 to P99? Various other stuff. But; None of it mean't anything to me. And none of it said " AVI / VID ".

Yeah. But to bypass that (in the absence of a Remote!!) the autoswitch would work if the RGB scart to Ps2 cable he has was fully wired. A lot of the bog standard ones dont have port 8 enabled.

You can buy one on ebay for a few quid. Something like a Blaze Scart Cable or anything that describes itself as an RGB scart to Ps2 cable. Those ones are fully wired on the scart pins.

Yup, should work perfectly. It will probably offer a better picture quality also.

Well, my mate's home from work and, in between getting fed and acknowledging his wife and child, he'll likely be rooting around in his shed. Only, this is one Big shed! We're not talking hidey hole at the bottom of the garden here!

So, I might get a text, any moment. " Got it! ". I'll send a taxi for it! Or, he may get distracted by his own concerns and drift off into doing something else. Who knows?

Assuming I don't hear tonight? Another mate of mine said his house is awash with Remote's. But, neither of us would really know one from another. It will be a matter of his wife knowing if one's a Universal. Plan B would be to borrow such and then try to find the right code.

Failing That? It's gonna get F expensive, as I taxi back into town, looking for a Universal Remote. If I get one. And if I can make it work? Fantastic!

If Not? Abject misery. I'll have to send for this RGB Scart and wait for it to turn up.

Right now, I'm just trying not to look at this damn TV here. Or even think about racing across Iraq, blowing sh1t up! :pac:

Putting this one to bed, guys.

Today, I went back into town, again and came home with a couple of unnamed, seemingly " Universal " remote's. People gave them to me as surplus.

I've come home. Posted pictures of them, on here, asking. Then, I've worked my way through google. Finally, I sat and fiddled with them.

I Did It!!! I actually Found my AV channel! (Actually; Looking back at it? This one remote has a button marked " AV " :o FFS!

But, yeah. Sussed it. Switched my PS2 on. Screen fired up! There were all my old games!!!

Clickety click ....! " Disc Read Error " !!!

I'm Play Station shopping. I need something to go with this TV! :(

Cheers for all the help, lads :)

Hah, after all that bloody effort! Shouldn't be too hard to nab a cheap PS2, I'd imagine. There were plenty about at one stage anyway!
