Can anyone help? I have been given a HTC One M8 by my bro with CyanogenMod inctalled on it. The phone is locked to Vodaphone and I need to unlock to use as I am with Meteor but I have been told by the Phone Doctor that I have to uninstall CyanogenMod to unlock. I have tried to uninstall with no success. Anyone know if there is a way to unlock without uninstalling? What are my options? No one seems to be able to give me a straight answer...ta v m

Id imagine you'll need to flash it back to stock. This will completely wipe the phone btw.

You might get some better help in the Android devices forum.

    Hopefully one of these work...

    But as for point one
Believe it or not, the best easiest way to get your hands on a SIM unlock code for your HTC One (M8) is calling your service provider and simply asking for it.

Who told you you would have to remove CM? (again I could be wrong), but it's the first I've heard of such a request and I thought the OS wouldn't have a bearing on the carrier (3/vf/meteor/etc).

Removing a network lock usually involves inserting the new sim (meteor), and you will have a prompt to enter a network unlock code. This can be got from Vodafone, assuming your brother has had it a while, and paid his bill etc.

Entering the code isn't phone software dependent, so you should be able to do it with either Cyanogenmod, or the default phone software.

There's another forum (or two) more suited to this type of query. You can try Mobiles (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=411) or Android Devices (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1343)

Ask the operator for the unlock code

I unlocked an HTC One M8 - all I had to do was insert the new sim card and follow the prompts on the screen... Not sure what bearing CM would have on that process

There are other ways of course and given that CM is installed - warranties are already voided..

I'd say buying an unlock code in eBay would be cheaper if the network don't give you the code

I'm not 100% sure on this but to my knowledge, when you enter the "foreign" SIM, it prompts for the unlock code. But apparently this functionality is removed from CyanogenMod. Hence why you have to revert to stock.
