You wont be able to keep the full €188. Any means from employment will be assessed against your claim. It would depend on the number of hours worked per day... the hourly rate of pay etc.

Yes I understand that. It is usually 60% 0r so of what you earn plus the €188.

I'm wondering can you earn close to the €188? That would give (188 x 0.6%) + €188 =€300.80 (take home money).

You can earn €60 over 3 days, which is disregarded.
Over that, your means(deduction from the 188) are 60%,so theoretically you could earn another €313 (so €373 total) before losing all your JSA.
However, you might have to convince the dole that you are not working full-time.

Ah ok cheers. That looks like I can earn up to €185 per week. Get 60% of that and add that to the €188. Taken home €299

Unless both values are added together first and then a percentage is taken off.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/means_test_for_social_welfare_payments/work_and_jobseekers_allowance.html

The above gives a bit more info... to show what your means are. First €20 disregarded and then balance X by 60%.

Other factors like spouse and kids will affect.

You don't appear to understand my post or how the means test works.
Where did you get €185 from?

How about you see can you work 5 days instead of 3 so you can earn more money, and not need the dole. It might actually be easier to get full time work rather than part time work.

It is for work I already did as an invigilator back in May. I had to wait for six weeks for the company to fill up the UP16 form.

My gross payment over the three weeks (each week vary amount) is €553, superannuation €46.75, pension levy €44.32 and given Net €462 (for 3 weeks).

The social welfare has not paid me anything.

Did you use the Gross or Net pay?

It is actually 8 days. two weeks of 3 days and one week of 2 days.

I'm getting onto the company that paid me to send on my daily timesheets so that I know how much exactly for each day and week.

Even if one of the weeks is over the limit. That would still mean two of the weeks are ok.

You use gross pay less superannuation less prsi(which you didn't mention).Eight days would be 356 owed.

    Thanks

I think I will have to subtract the pension (USC) as well?

Unfortunately the UP 3i form I have doesn't mention anything about USC.

Ok I think I understand what you did.

    (462.83 + 44.32) - 160 = €347

    60% = 208

    (3 x 188) - 208

    = €356

If it is from net pay only, dole owe me €383

    From welfare.ie

"Assessable income is gross earnings less deductions for PRSI, superannuation (including AVC's and PRSA's) and union dues.

Deductions in respect of income tax, VHI or similar health insurance premiums and travel expenses are not allowed."
    Are we clear now?

    Thanks a million.

The silly accountant subtracted the USC from the Gross pay. No wonder why the dole wouldn't pay me.
