    Hi

I have qualified as an accounting Technician, I have been working as an Accounts assistant for 3 years

I am really confused which route to take between CAI of which I will be exempted 3 papers and CIMA where I will be exempted Certificate level all papers and F1 Operational

I am 42 and 2 kids( 6 and 9) if I decide to do CAI will I get a contract? Iam working with a small newspaper company most of my job involve invoicing , credit control, payment allocation

Considering that I will be paying my studies CIMA looks cheaper BUT am I making the right decision

    Your help is much appreciated

Not to confuse you but there is ACCA as well. I think they are all similar to each other so whatever you choose, you will have a recognised qualification.

I am doing ACA (chartered accountants ireland) because they have a flexible route with online content and weekend sessions. It is quite expensive, but there are less subjects than ACCA, so they are all probably of similar cost in the end. The flexible route does not require a training contract, so you may be able to get experience in your current company (if there is a accountant with enough experience to sign off). You should actually ring them, they are quite helpful.

    hi

if i could advise sth it would be that you make sure you get relevant experience!

doing exams with no experience will not get you too far, you can self study for many ACCA exams but for some you will have to attend the classes for sure, I imagine out of 14 exams you would have exemption for 3, F1-F3 being accounting technician

if you dnt think that in your current position there is much room for development then try to find a job with the bigger company, mention you start professional qualification and take it from there

    good luck!
