do you work night shift all the time or is it a rotating shift. IF its a rotating shift you are entitled to a 25% shift rate on top of the set hourly wage.I am not sure about working the one shift all the time but I wouldnt be surprised if you are not entitled to shift rate. they do that in a bakery near to where i live to cut wage costs

your right I just checked. A lot of places do pay a shift rate however. In my place of work its 25% for 3 cycle 8 hour shifts and 33% for 12 hour two cycle. I think they would find it hard to get and keep workers if they didn't pay a shift rate.

Your employer is under no legal obligation to pay you shift allowance.
I used to work nights and was paid night shift allowance(around 30%). Toward the end of my time working nights, I noticed many new employees were taken in on modified contracts which didn't include night/Sunday premiums.
