Has anyone ever tried making their own gel? Has it been successful?

A lad I work with uses cuts of pork or bacon to test ammo. Seemingly it has similar properties to ballistic gel

Ye can buy the clear gel from states and reuse it a few dozen times.

No it's the other way around. Ballistic gel has similar properties to pork or bacon.
