    Hi all

I was thinking about getting my boyfriend one of those flying experiences but there seems to be so many online. I was looking at one on Gifts Direct - flying lesson Dublin for an hour which costs 110. Would any know if this is a good one or can anyone recommend one please and thanks because it's for a special birthday. Thanks in advance

110 euro typically means 30 mins of ground briefing and 30 minutes of actual air time, not really a good value for money. Newcastle airfield in Wicklow are doing Open day this weekend (10-11 sept) with 30 minutes air time costing you just 50 euros (no pre-booking required, arrive at site and off you go). Scenery is much better in Wicklow, your boyfriend will really enjoy it.

Typically a full hour in a plane will cost you 185 euros in Newcastle, (235-ish around Weston). 30 minutes is not a lot to be honest, they run by fairly quickly. See if you can get an hour during the open day

There are a few other flying clubs around the country; cork, Offaly, Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, etc. I may be staring the obvious but the flying lesson will be weather dependent, if you live in Kerry or Donegal do you want to buy a voucher for Wicklow? The weather could change while you're en route to the airfield!

We live in Kildare so Dublin or Kildare but it could be cancelled as you say if the weather is bad. I don't mind where it's for as long as it's good value for money and a memorable experience. Thank you for replying

Also worth considering Ultraflight based in Abbeyshrule, Co Longford. An hour flight for sub 150 euro last I heard.
