cheapest way from Zaventem airport to Brussels city

Hi, would anyone know the current cheapest way to get to and from Zaventem airport to Brussels city. I know that there is a train that goes directly from the airport, but you need to pay this extra diabolo fee of 10 euro on top of the normal ticket price.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried walking to the local train station at Zaventem town and getting the local train from there?

Otherwise I think the local 471 or 272 bus would be an option ,. Does anyone know it's current price ?

    Thanks

Snelbus 471 will go from Brussels Nord station to Zaventem. A single ticket is valid for unlimited distance but max time of 60 mins at cost of €3.

I have bought tickets for the train into the city and did not have to pay any €10 for Diabolo or whatever??

There is also a bus from the airport into the EU district where you can link up with the Metro system into the city centre

The charge is included in the ticket price. It's only separate if you have a free ticket for an event or a monthly pass that doesn't usually cover the airport tax.

Excellent service. Don't bother messing with buses.
