I was a huge fan of Goodnight Sweetheart back in the day and I enjoyed last night's episode but I don't think it should come back.
It was of its' time. I don't know if it would work again.
Having said that, if it did come back, I'd definitely watch it.

I think i'm with you on that onion. On balance, as much as i enjoyed last night, I think it could sink very fast if the script writing wasn't up to scratch

I think it will return, even it it shouldn't. The BBC are desperate for some 'new' sitcom hits.

Really enjoyed it last night. Not sure if it has enough potential to last a full series but maybe the writers have more up their sleeves.

Having said that, I would rather see the BBC trying to create new comedy hits than dredging up old favourites to squeeze the last bit of juice from them.

No. It was only okay - it was fun that it was the reverse with him being out of touch with the modern world, but hard to see it being sustainable. Has his side kick acted in anything since, he was very stagey and seemed rusty.

I only watched the first 20 mins or so of Young Mrs Bucket. Thought it was devoid of humour and the main character a very pale characterisation of the classic that was the original.

Overall all very few jokes in either.

I watched 3 mins and turned it off, it was dreadful.

    No it wasn't. ;)

I wouldn't mind it coming back for a Christmas special, but as a new series, nah.

Always loved 'Goodnight Sweetheart' and I watched the episode last night. I think the Beeb put out the episode to gauge the level of interest in a new series. Loved the bit where Gary sung "Hello from the other side". I think we'll see a full series but the writing has to be top class or it'll sully the original.

If they did it properly they could get one or two series out of it! They may be considering it as they left it open for a return. The only difference is that "Yvvone" is aware of the time travelling now - part of the appeal of the original series was waiting to see if Gary would give himself away in one of the time-zones!

If they do anything it would be best to keep it as the odd special here or there. But even that they'd have to be very careful with, as they ruined Only Fools and Horses with all the specials. This special was pretty good though Gary's reaction to his daughter's jeans was odd. Ripped jeans were a 90s thing.

They're too old for what? It's not like its a series about 20 somethings.

I thought it was very good.

Maybe stop confusing real people with characters they play and you might be able to enjoy stuff.

I'm not. I think he was suited to the role of Rodney but not that wet time traveller. That was tea time comedy. Polite but dull
