I've an 07 MK4 Mondeo, early engine with the timing belt and chain, I know a wet belt was introduced later in 07 which proved a disaster. There is 220000km on the car, belt was done at 130k but not the chain. When should that be replaced?

Ford reccomend replacement at 200k with a wet belt but id leave the chain alone.

The main thing which chains is to make sure you service your car properly. Oil changes are key in timing chain longevity.
