I already posted this in motors but somebody suggested I try here

Hey guys hope you can help long story but a 5l drum of kerosene leaked into the boot of my f10 5 series. It got into the battery well into the seats in the front absolutely everywhere. The battery well was swimming in it. have tried good old soap and water and I got it steam cleaned professionally which took it out of the upholstery and it still stinks.

Part of the problem is its in the black rubbery material which is stuck to the metal in bottom of the boot and under the rear seats is soaked in it.
It has turned it into almost a black tar. Is this material a sound deadening I can remove and replace with an alternate material or should I not be removing this stuff? Any help or advice is appriciated.

Yes that sounds like the sound proofing material and if I was you I would be ripping everything out asap. Anything under carpet or seats can be replaced so if its soaked in it, rip it out now before the smell gets into the material that has been valeted.
