Quashquai Question!

Looking at an '08 1.6 petrol Quashquai (65,000 miles). I'm aware it's not a powerhouse engine but I'm happy enough. Got a great trade-in offer on my own car. However, 2 things about it are holding me back from signing on the dotted line and I would appreciate your advice. The clutch is riding very high...almost fully out before it engages...is this a sign it's nearly knackered? The boot lid/door has had some paintwork. Not a bad job at all but I spotted paint overspray on the indicator lens. Is this a reason to walk away?

    Thanks in advance!

Depends on the price and what you are getting for your car.

    Any link to advert?

The Clutch does sound worrying, is this a private sale or garage sale?

It's a main Nissan dealer. 6 month warranty offered. 10995. Others I've looked at priced a grand less but indy garages and I'd have warranty concerns. One of the 2 best trade-in offers I've got for my car. I'm a stickler for bodywork but I'm guessing 'smart' repairs would be commonplace on a lot of 8 year old cars?

    No not really.

It means damage to what extent? Do you even know.

Its a grand more expensive. That's a grand of 6 month warranty.

No thanks I'd be looking elsewhere.

If the clutch is that Deep to engage the previous owner was a bad driver and with the damage to the rear more likely terrible driver.

So you'll need a clutch change sooner than later

Need I mention this is an 8 year old petrol jeep.... Expensive for that money

Additionally there is far more bang for your buck for that generation diesel or petrol in the UK.

Thank you all kindly! Sobering advice. I'm suitably impressed and glad I came on here and asked before going with my heart!

10995....Thats quite expensive for a petrol 2008 Qashquai

Here's a similar one for 3,000 euro less

You're paying a unnecessary by buying at a Nissan main dealer, warranties are not that great at main dealers either.

Massive price difference!!! Thank you. Moral of the story, just because the trade-in offer is great...look at the bottom line.

You can always sell your car.

Buy on condition not on warrantys. Thats key.

You've been thinking of changing your car for 9 months now, I doubt you'd have rushed into it.

Do you still have the 05 A3 you were thinking of changing 2 years ago? lol

The reason you are getting a more favourable trade-in price is because the dealer is making it back on the high asking price of the Qashqai. Bottom line is that you need to concentrate on the cost to trade up price rather than the trade-in price of your old car.
