I have a problem on-going in the house of light bulbs blowing. As I'm decorating in the hall decided to replace the plastic light switch - trying to rewire them. there are two one gang switches in the hall - both are wired differently. There are holes for three wires on the light switch the first one I off had wires going in the three holes. The second switch has two wires going into the one hole and one going into the other hole. Just wondering which is right?

how do you know which wires are which?

    thanks,
    R

They are both correct. The two switches are wired differently as you have to way switching to allow you switch the landing light on from down stairs. Google two way switch.
