What alternatives to weekly bin collection in Dublin

Since the June announcements of the charges involved in the the so-called "pay by weight" system of waste collection, I've decided that I won't be renewing my account with Thornton's in 2017. With the introduction of a weekly service charge, my bill would increase around 60%. I can't reduce the amount of waste any more. If there wasn't so much packaging on food or other groceries, I might, but that's a different story.

I put out the green bin every 2 weeks and it is 2/3 full most times.
Brown bin goes out at most once a month, and more frequently in summer with grass cutting and because of the smell.
Black / grey bin is once every 3-4 months.

I have no problem bringing the green and black bin waste to dump and paying for it. Been bringing bigger green waste, oil etc. to dump for years. The only one that is a minor problem is the brown bin. I have come across Kollect.ie but I'm not sure how widely available their service is. Their service requires use of a wheelie bin.

I have read or heard people talking about compactors, etc. but I'm curious how other people cope or plan to cope with their waste for the brown bin in Dublin. No compactors near me. Do they have a coin slot or debit card reader? I'm amazed that their isn't some large bin system near shops or church that people can bring small amounts of waste and don't require the use of wheelie bins, that aren't convenient in terraced houses.

I've been thinking of Bokashi for all brown waste and burying it in my back garden for compost. Google it - there's a small bin with a tap to drain off fluid or you can bag the whole lot and bury it. Should decompose in 4-6 weeks.
Green bin - plan to bring to dump which is free
Black Bin - need to think carefully about main drivers of waste, non-recyclable packaging etc. That's going to be harder to solve in today's environment. But based on shocking increase of bin charges that nearly went through, it needs a solution. Plan to get rid of garden grass to remove that obstacle. There was a place locally we used to be able to bring it but guess what, it's closed!
Best of luck and hope you find a good solution that as you says negates the need for the 3 bin system at your home.
